You should try out del.icio.us it lets you keep all your bookmarks on line and tag them so they're easier to find and share. I largely use mine for fic I want to read again, but also all sorts of other links. You can see mine here.

(I know what you mean, too. I never opnened my journal to anyone but IRL friends because I knew my entries would bore them to tears - and I didn't want to try and figure out what would be 'good' to write... :)

I've always had an open LiveJournal, but I'd like to get my mom started on LJ so she won't bug me to call her as much, especially since I'm canceling my T-Mobile plan so I'm not stuck with two phones with bad connections while Chris is gone, and getting either an Alaska-based plan phone or a pay-as-you-go phone, and (anywho) I'm going to have to go through my whole LJ and custom-friend-group certain entries quietly.

Did that make any sense at all? Was that all one sentence? Really?

It makes total sense!

I actually had to make my journal friends only because my sister is incredibly nosey (she snoops on my younger (like 13 - 15yo) nieces and nephews on aol IM and she was actually reading all of her son's emails for a while - when her son was grown and in the military! She found a way to break in. It's crazy actually.... She was reading our emails to eachother and flipped out when I supported his marriage. He had been serving in the air force for 2 years and had already been to Iraq and back! I think that alone made him older than most men his age...)

Ha! The question now is: Did that make sense?

Anyway. Dangerously snoopy family = closed journal.

I love the idea of keeping in touch with your mom that way. You can post pictures too. (Plus I don't know about your mom - but for me it would be a while lot easier than calling....;)

I can understand being paranoid about a dangerously snoopy family. My family didn't really give enough of a shit to read my journals, but I got paranoid for awhile anyway and for several months wrote only in a memorized code.

It'd be easier than calling because a) she wants pictures and b) I'm probably going to just get a simple pay-as-you-go phone and the less I have to use it the better, especially long distance. Maybe I'll just create another LJ and back-date a bunch of stuff, and friend her with that.

But that's assuming she'll even want a LiveJournal, so I guess I'll find out the next time I call her.
